Opportunities

Giving back will improve your wellbeing, equip you with skills for the future, and help you to make new friends – and memories.

Below is a list of tasks we’re always looking for support with but this isn’t everything. If you can’t see something that suits you and your skills, contact us and we’ll have a chat to find what works best for you.

We need volunteers who can fill operational roles and be members of our section teams (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts).

We also need volunteers for the many support roles that keep the Group ticking along, such as:

  • Trustees who oversee the running of the Group.
  • Someone to chair the Trustee Board.
  • Someone to lead the Group and coordinate the section teams.
  • Somebody willing to act as secretary to the Trustee Board – arrange meetings, take minutes etc.
  • Someone to do the various admin tasks needed to keep the Group running – DBS checks, volunteer role changes etc.
  • Someone to manage our hall – seeing maintenance and safety tasks are carried out, and it is kept clean (but not actually doing the cleaning – this is outsourced).
  • Someone to look after all the equipment (tents, cookers etc) used by our section teams and keeping it in a good state of repair.

All positions require an Enhanced DBS – which we can sort out. Trustees and members of section teams – i.e. Leaders – also need to follow a prescribed program of training, some of which needs to be redone on a regular basis (e.g. Safeguarding, and Safety).
